Tom Braegelmann joins Annerton
Berlin, 4 October 2022 – Tom Braegelmann joins FinTech law firm Annerton as Of Counsel on 1 October 2022. Tom Braegelmann is an experienced restructuring and insolvency law expert who is also specialised in fintech/DLT/crypto and IT law, including in an insolvency context, since 2016.
With Braegelmann as a multiplier Annerton complements its advice for their national and international clients from the financial sector with expertise in pre-insolvency advice, insolvency law and restructuring and further strengthens its position in the area of DLT (distributed ledger technology).
“In dynamic but uncertain times, financing rounds are becoming more difficult, and, at the same time, the regulator’s supervision is becoming more critical. As a result, topics such as the question whether accounts and digital assets can be insolvency-proof and the assessment and realisation of crypto assets in insolvency are becoming increasingly relevant. Advising clients well in advance of an insolvency, for example to counter and minimise unwelcome liability risks at an early stage, is also in greater demand. With Tom, we have an expert in Berlin who is legally and practically at home in these topics, especially regarding new questions that arise around crypto assets. This is a perfect fit of synergies for us,” says Dr Susanne Grohé, partner in Annerton’s Berlin office.
Tom Braegelmann is “looking forward to working with the whole Annerton team. Issues of regulatory finance law in connection with restructuring and insolvency law are colliding more and more frequently, require the dovetailing of these areas of law in advisory services and are a challenge for successful FinTech companies but also for corporate restructurings. Preventive protection against potential liability risks arising from insolvency and restructuring, in regard both of clients and of third parties, is becoming an increasingly important component in advising FinTechs. I see a great opportunity here to mutually strengthen our joint expertise.”
