4th edition of the standard work ‘GwG – Geldwäschegesetz’ (Money Laundering Act) with Annerton authors published

Frankfurt, 28 May 2025 – The fourth edition of the standard work ‘GwG – Geldwäschegesetz’ (Money Laundering Act) was published today in the renowned Frankfurter Kommentar series by R&W Fachmedien Recht und Wirtschaft. Edited by Dr. Uta Zentes and Annerton partner Sebastian Glaab, the book is considered an important standard work on money laundering prevention in the German legal framework.

The commentary provides a comprehensive and practical explanation of the legal and regulatory requirements for combating money laundering and terrorist financing. In addition to the Money Laundering Act (GwG), relevant regulations from the KWG, VAG, StGB, AO, ZAG, AWG, the Money Transfer Regulation and regulations on financial sanctions are also commented on in detail.

Particular attention is paid to the integration of the latest changes brought about by the EU AML Package 2024, which sets new standards for money laundering prevention in the EU. The commentary is aimed in particular at specialists and managers in the financial sector and at all companies that are obliged to comply with the requirements.

The work is the result of the efforts of a team of top-class authors, including Annerton lawyers Jonas Philipp Burckgard, Dr Anna Izzo-Wagner, LL.M. Eur., Till Christopher Otto and Dr Paul Schultess, who have contributed their practical experience to key sections.

The practical focus of the work makes the commentary an indispensable companion in everyday money laundering prevention. The fourth edition provides a comprehensive and up-to-date foundation for legally compliant action.’ – Sebastian Glaab, partner at Annerton and co-editor

The book is now available from the specialist publisher R&W Fachmedien Recht und Wirtschaft and in the online shop at shop.ruw.de.
